It’s amazing being around people who are just as passionate about your art field as you are, and the professors are really helpful and a lot of them are/were accomplished in their fields, so they actually know about their industries. There’s also a lot of networking opportunities, which is really important for a successful career. However, there are some issues with SCAD. There’s no required portfolio for applying, so the acceptance rate is really high for an art school, which leads to an overadmittance of freshmen each year.

So far I love the interaction between myself and the admissions advisors, the transfer advisors and the financial aid advisors. My only issue is that as soon as I get used to on person in particular I am soon thereafter handed off to someone new that I have to get used to. For a student like me, who is introverted and ADHD it can be a bit overwhelming. Overall, I love the school and what the program promises.

Overall, I think it's a wonderful school to attend. Like all schools, it definitely has it's problems. For example, there's currently a bit of a housing crisis at the Savannah campus because they keep over admitting freshman every year, so hundreds of people end up being forced to go off campus or even have to take a bit of a break from school if they can't afford to live off campus for the year. I also feel that the school has some issues with communication of important things to it's students. On the other hand though, I do still love being able to attend SCAD. The professor are one of the best things about the school I feel, as every single one I've had for my major classes are all so passionate about their studies and care so much about their students. SCAD also provides so many incredible opportunities to it's students that I feel would be harder to get anywhere else.

The school has a very welcoming environment and amazing people around willing to help and are nice and polite to everyone. I will be an incoming freshman and can't wait to see what my future brings me here at scad.

They need to fix their housing. A bunch of people were promised housing if they paid the $750 housing deposit and then they never got housing because SCAD accepts too many freshman which they have to house and then other students don’t get housing.

SCAD is a very unique school when it comes to its overall environment. As a dry campus with a heavy emphasis on business, branding and success, you will not receive the standard "college experience" here. Opportunity is everywhere, but you have to earn it and advocate for yourself. Housing has been rough recently and it's a very expensive school. I highly recommend it if you are very invested in your craft and future career.

This is a great college to attend! Make an effort to get involved in workshops at the very least and clubs if you can! The teachers are extremely knowledgeable and want to help you. At the times that my professors weren't able to give me more information, they provided resources or resources were easy to find. Be ambitious and resourceful! Nothing is better than a problem-solver and truth-seeker!

I love attending SCAD and there is not a lot wrong with scad, both Atlanta and Savannah campus is beautiful! I have toured both! The professors are amazing and I have yet to have one god awful professor. Some if the downsides to being at SCAD however the cost of tuition, you pay a lot and its hard to see where it goes to some degree for example housing. After finishing my fall quarter last year we were out for 3 whole months before going back for the winter quarter yet still had to pay the same amount for housing which is a lot and we were not even given the ability to say on campus during the break of we needed to like other campuses offer. The dinning experience is hit or miss at SCAD too. They are known for serving old food at the ATL campus and I know a number of people who have gotten sick but it got better toward the end of spring quarter. SCAd is full of opportunities and if you have the ability to be financially comfortable to go to SCAD you should go and use all the resources!

My experience overall has been great. I will say the finance is pretty high but, worth it. There is a lot of diversity and I love it! I thought that being away from all my family would be super heard but, Savannah College of Art and Design has made me feel super welcomed and has helped me out with so many things. Deeply grateful I chose this college.

Savannah College of Art and Design (Scad) Strives to give their students the most possible abilities to grow and improve in their respective fields. The professors are all professionals in their fields although this has occasionally lead to scad hiring professors that although skilled shouldn’t be teachers. Scad also always has something going on weather it be a workshop or a panel they offer plenty of way for student to meet professionals in their fields and approve upon they’re own talents.

The academic experience is really good. It offers so many opportunities and connections. The overload of work is too much sometimes and so many students do not have time to sleep or eat. Professors are mostly very experienced in their field and as a student you learn a lot from them if you want to. The only problem is how stressful this school is with no balance in life plus being expensive.

My time at SCAD was limited, but overall it was okay. Not necessarily what they portrayed the school to be during the orientation. Safety is a big concern at the school as well. Not so much to the staff or higher-ups, but to the students. We aren't allowed to have things such as Tasers, let alone guns for protection. The city is your campus and is riddled with aggressive homeless people. There is rideshare, but only a limited amount at night. The food is a hit or miss. Nothing Micheline star, but higher than the average mess hall I'd say. Dorms are larger than your typical as well. Every Freshman dorm at the Hive is suited with a kitchenette, though you will have to reside with three other roommates. Two to a room, a common living space, a separate bathroom, and a shower in the dorm, but all to share. Sports are basically non-existent. Lacross and bowling are our biggest ones. One perk about the school is the fact that there is no class on Fridays. This is mostly used as a study day.

This school is great when it comes to going to a school that will help you get a job when you graduate. It’s a nice school with mostly great professors but they continue to over accept students causing serious housing issues and allowing students who aren’t passionate to go here.

As a first year student, SCAD has impressed me overall. Being able to work towards your real dreams and actively building up a portfolio, and to so easily access big companies is like a dream come true! The classes here are provided with plenty of useful information, but with the right professors. Some of the classes I took were a nightmare because of the professors. One severely lacked in communication while the other only catered to certain students who already mastered the material and treating everyone else like a second thought. And the food has always made me sick to my stomach and I've found bugs in it a couple of times. But the worst of it comes from their disability services. I scheduled a psychiatric appointment for an evaluation, and the psychiatrist went on about these generalized assumptions about people with certain personality disorders. She kept calling them "manipulative" and "dramatic". I felt extremely unsafe and am disappointed in SCAD for hiring such a person.

Housing and the abundantly clear issue of over submitting each year, which strains housing and class sizes. Currently almost 1000 students don't have access to housing which will lead them out of scholarship money. All of this happens because of the greed to over submit students without a plan to take care of them.

SCAD is a great college for anyone looking to study in the arts. It is VERY intensive so get ready to work, but the professors do their best to help you be prepared for your life after school. If you aren't used to all-nighters, this may not be the school for you, but the friends and connections you'll make here will last a lifetime.

SCAD is certainly a one-of-a-kind experience. The Savannah campus is relatively safe and the learning opportunities are far more abundant than most universities in terms of pursuing a career with art. Admittedly it is costly, though that much is not surprising. Still, I wouldn't change it for anything else.
