The Yaesu FT-891 HF All Mode Mobile Transceiver is a compact yet powerful device that continues the legacy of Yaesu's legendary receiver design. It offers uncompromising performance for both mobile and stationary Amateur operators. The transceiver features a high-end 32-bit floating-point DSP, which enhances the operating experience by providing a cleaner and clearer signal, reducing operator fatigue, and creating a more enjoyable environment. The receiver circuit design ensures excellent performance with triple conversion and a 1st IF frequency of 69.450 MHz for SSB/CW/AM modes. It is equipped with a 3 kHz roofing filter as a standard feature. The TCXO provides ±0.5 ppm high-frequency stability (-10°C to +50°C).

The FT-891 provides a stable 100 Watts (25W AM) of high power output, backed by careful circuit design, efficient thermostatically-controlled dual internal fans, and a die-cast heat-transferring chassis for high reliability. The transceiver's 32-bit IF DSP offers effective and optimized QRM rejection, cancelling/reducing random noise on the HF bands. It also features AUTO NOTCH (DNF) for eliminating dominant beat tones and CONTOUR and APF for receiver noise reduction during HF band operations. The native USB connection allows complete rig control via a virtual serial port connection (VCP).

The FT-891 is designed for ease of operation, with a large diameter main tuning dial, a pop-up menu for quick navigation, a multi-function knob, a large transmit/receive indicator, and three programmable front panel function keys. It fully supports the ATAS-25 and ATAS-120A Active Tuning Antenna System for plug-and-play field and mobile operation. Despite its powerful features, the FT-891 has an ultra-compact and rugged case design, measuring 6.1" x 2.0" x 8.6" (155 x 52 x 218 mm). It also offers the option of coupling with the FC-50 Antenna Tuner Unit, designed specifically for the FT-891.
