  • SCREENING DEVICE CONTAINING NANOG PROMOTER, SOX2 PROMOTER, LIN 28 PROMOTER, OCT4 PROMOTER AND LUCIFERASE GENE AND SCREENING METHOD THEREOF

    Publication number: 20130004959

Abstract: A screening device that contains Nanog promoter, Sox2 promoter, Lin28 promoter, Oct4 promoter and luciferase gene and a method thereof is revealed. The screening device is used to find out small molecules that improve activity of the promoters mentioned-above. A reporter plasmid formed by a pStable vector is introduced into stable somatic cells or stem cells with reporter plasmids such as a C2C12 mouse myoblast cell line and a P19 embryonal carcinoma cell line. By the luciferase gene contained in the pStable vector and pluripotent gene promoters placed upstream of the luciferase gene, luciferase expression is assayed by luminescence intensity measured. Thus response and activity of the promoters placed upstream of the luciferase gene is measured and small molecules inducing pluripotency are found out. If a drug can activate all promoters or respective promoter, it can be used as a drug that induces cell pluropatency.

  • Method for reducing CO2, CO, NOX, and SOx emissions

    Patent number: 6447437

Abstract: Industrial combustion facilities are integrated with greenhouse gas-solidifying fertilizer production reactions so that CO2, CO, NOx, and SOx emissions can be converted prior to emission into carbonate-containing fertilizers, mainly NH4HCO3 and/or (NH2)2CO, plus a small fraction of NH4NO3 and (NH4)2SO4. The invention enhances sequestration of CO2 into soil and the earth subsurface, reduces N03− contamination of surface and groundwater, and stimulates photosynthetic fixation of CO2 from the atmosphere. The method for converting CO2, CO, NOx, and SOx emissions into fertilizers includes the step of collecting these materials from the emissions of industrial combustion facilities such as fossil fuel-powered energy sources and transporting the emissions to a reactor. In the reactor, the CO2, CO, N2, SOx, and/or NOx are converted into carbonate-containing fertilizers using H2, CH4, or NH3.

  • SOx trap for diesel and lean-burn gasoline automotive applications

    Publication number: 20050145827

Abstract: The present invention provides a regenerable catalyst composition suitable for entrapping SOx. The composition of the invention comprises a copper oxide having the formula (Cu/(A oxide) where A oxide is SiO2, Zr—SiO2, A12O3, TiO2—Al2O3, ZrO2 and In2O3 or mixtures thereof. Copper loading may vary from about 10 to 60 mol % and is preferably about 25 mol %. The catalyst composition adsorbs SOx as metal sulfate under lean conditions and desorbs accumulated SOx as SO2 under rich conditions. Such reversible SOx trap are able to operate under conventional NOx trap operating conditions to prevent sulfur poisoning of the NOx trap. Furthermore, these traps may be regenerated under rich conditions at 300-450° C. In another embodiment of the present invention, an irreversible SOx trap capable of collecting SOx under lean conditions is provided. The traps of this embodiment include praseodymia, zirconia-praseodymia and mixed manganese-yttria and mixtures thereof.

  • SOx CAPTURE USING CARBONATE ABSORBENT

    Publication number: 20220134279

Abstract: A desulfurization gas process includes water vapor, CO2 and SOx (x=2 and/or 3). In a treatment unit, the gas contacts a cooled alkaline aqueous solution having a temperature lower than an initial gas temperature, water and a carbonate of an alkali metal, to cool the gas, condense some water vapor and absorb SOx in the carbonate-containing solution, produce an SOx-depleted gas and an acidic aqueous solution including sulfate and/or sulfite ions. The SOx-depleted gas and a portion of the acidic aqueous solution can then be withdrawn from the treatment unit. Carbonate of the alkali metal can be added to remaining acidic aqueous solution to obtain a made-up alkaline aqueous solution. This solution can be cooled and reused as the cooled alkaline aqueous solution. An SOx absorbent solution includes a bleed stream from a CO2-capture process, sodium or potassium carbonate, and an acidic aqueous solution obtained from desulfurization.
