UPDATE: Epic Games has given fans a proper look at the Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 3 Battle Pass, as server downtime gets under way. As you can see from the official Season 3 trailer below, the Wrecked season adds the MegaLo Don skin, as well as the Ringmaster Scarr skin, Peabody, The Machinist, Rust, T-60 Power Armour, Brite Raider and Wastelander Magneto. The trailer also showcases the new vehicular combat, as well as new items like Nuka-Cola (which replenishes health and, over some time, your shield) and Nitro Splash for players and vehicles. According to the latest leaks from the likes of Hypex and Shiina, the new season will also add the War Bus, which is described as "an armoured battle bus, but with the ability to fire a burst EMP in the area around it that can disable other vehicles". New weapons include the Enhanced Hand Cannon, The Machinist's Combat Assault Rifle, Ringmaster's Boom Bolt, MegaLo Don's Combat Shotgun, the regular Combat Shotgun, MegaLo Don's Nitro Fists and the regular Nitro Fists.Points of interest include the Nitrodome, Redline Rig, Sandy Steppers and Brutal Beachhead. You'll also be able to explore new and returning locations such as Rebel's Roost, Lavish Lair, Classy Courts, Grand Glacier, Restored Reels, Reckless Railways, Grim Gate, The Underworld, Mount Olympus and Brawler's Battleground.

After endless rumours, countless leaks and a fair amount of speculation, Fortnite fans are finally being treated to a new season of content, as Battle-Royale goes post-apocalyptic. Titled Wrecked, Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 3 has a May 24 release date on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Android. Coinciding with a period of server downtime, the new Fortnite update has a 7am BST UK release time. However, while you can download the update at around 7am, you won't actually be able to enjoy the new season until downtime comes to an end. While there's no official server maintenance schedule, downtime for a new season tends to last longer than usual, which means you probably won't be able to start playing Chapter 5, Season 3 until around midday.

As is the case for any new season, the file size for the next Fortnite update will be larger than usual, so you may need to free up some space on your hard drive.
